Heating bills can soar during the cold months, while electricity bills can jump during the summer. So much of your hard-earned money will be going towards heating and cooling your home for the rest of your life. Given this, you should think about a more economical long-term solution. Thankfully, there is a great option: solar energy.
Solar water heating and solar electricity are two solutions you can take advantage of right now. Modernising your home to be able to use solar energy will pay off over time. If you are like most people, you have probably avoided getting solar panels installed because of their high initial investment. The good news is that you can now receive a grant for them. That’s right. Here are some of the basic details you should know.
Currently, there is a €1200 grant being provided if you install solar water heating. You can get even more financial incentive if you complete these upgrades. Save an additional €300 when you do. Completing yet another upgrade knocks another €100 off the price. Anyone who owns a home built before 2011 is eligible for this grant.
As with solar water heating, there are also grants available for solar electricity. If you would like to install solar PV panels and a battery bank, you have a few financial incentives available to you. There is a €900 per kWp grant you can receive, for solar panels up to 2kWp. This would come out to €1,800 for around six or seven solar panels totalling 2kWp. If you are looking for even more power than 2kWp, the discounts keep on coming. You can receive €300 off for each extra kWp of solar panels you install until you reach 4kWp. This means that the maximum amount you can receive with these grants is €2,400. As long as your home was built before 2011, you are eligible for these grants.
You will always have heating and cooling bills. Think about the long-term and take advantage of the opportunity you have right now to get grants for solar water heating and solar electricity. These grants may not last forever, so take advantage of them while you still can. You will get to enjoy lower utility bills for decades when you do.
